The Easiest Way to Read the Bible Every Single Day

Have you ever sat down to read your Bible only to find you have no idea where to start so you read the same 4 verses over and over? Have you heard about God but never really taken a step towards knowing Him for yourself? Look no further. I have your solution. You need a One Year Bible. Okay, you may wonder why you would spend $14 on a One Year Bible (OYB) when you already have a Bible? I’m so glad you asked. With a OYB you flip to the day’s date for a reading already outlined for you! Every day has a passage from the Old Testament, New Testament, a Psalm, and Proverb. Once a year has passed you will have read the entire Bible! Not many people can say that.

In a few weeks, I will have used my daily Bible for four years. That’s four times of reading the Bible cover to cover! My mentor and great friend, Becky Tirabassi, gave me my first daily Bible and I will forever be grateful. Becky has read the Bible 35+ times. YES. For more than 35 years she has used the same daily Bible. As a new Christian, college student, and single lady running around campus I needed wisdom I could trust. I wanted to live for God but I had no idea who He was and if He was worth it.

I went out on a whim of faith hoping what people said about God was true. I made a commitment to read my Bible every day and let God show me for Himself what it meant to love Him, live for Him, and be a Christian woman. I simply took it day by day. I had no idea how much I would grow to love my time spent reading God’s word.

For years I thought the Bible was out dated and irrelevant. When I became a Christian I heard about the importance of reading the Bible but I had no idea where to start. Everyone knows if you fail to plan you plan to fail so why not plan out this practice? Before I knew God there were many nights I felt frustrated and stuck so I made external changes that lasted for days, maybe weeks, until I fell right back into my old habits. The Bible will bring the heart transformation that leads to behavior modification because true change happens from the inside out.

The Bible is a love letter infused with the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s God’s word left for generations to know Him. Hebrew’s says, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.” Hebrews 4:12-13 NLT.

That verse in Hebrews and others like it are exactly why I didn’t stop after the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd years. God’s word never gets old. The daily reading is the fuel I need for my faith. If you ever feel like being a Christian is a burden or lonely spend time reading God’s word. He will show you you’re not alone and give you the love you so desperately need. I spent so much time on a roller coaster of changes. First declaring my faith, living off a high from a church service, falling back into my old habits, feeling ashamed, and then back again to needing faith. Maybe you’re like me and fed up with the ups and downs–ready for purpose.

Every day my One Year Bible allows me to get to know God. And the more I know Him the more natural it feels to love people, trust God has a plan for my life, and find peace in the midst of all the unknown being 20 something brings.
